Action star Jason Statham is heading back to the big screen with a new action-comedy, and fans won’t have to wait too long to see it.
Production company Black Bear has announced that Jason Statham Stole My Bike, directed by David Leitch, is scheduled for release in North American cinemas on August 6, 2027. While the plot is still being kept under wraps, filming officially began this week.
Statham will take on a role that reportedly echoes the charismatic CIA field agent he played alongside Melissa McCarthy in the 2015 comedy Spy. The film also strengthens his ongoing partnership with Black Bear, following the recently completed Viva La Madness, directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring Ben Foster, Jason Isaacs, and Camila Mendes.
David Leitch, best known for directing The Fall Guy and the upcoming How to Rob a Bank, will direct the project from a script written by Alison Flierl, known for her work on BoJack Horseman. The story was developed by Flierl and Scott Chernoff.
The production team includes Leitch and Kelly McCormick for 87North, Statham for Punch Palace Productions, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin for Beryllium Entertainment. Fifth Season and Tango are serving as executive producers.
Black Bear has several major releases lined up this year, including The Rivals of Amziah King, starring Matthew McConaughey, and the comedy Spa Weekend, featuring Leslie Mann and Isla Fisher.
Meanwhile, Statham’s packed schedule continues with the crime thriller Mutiny, arriving in cinemas this August, and The Beekeeper 2, which is expected to premiere in early 2027.
Over the course of his career, Statham has become one of Hollywood’s most reliable action stars. His films have generated more than $8 billion worldwide and include major franchises such as The Meg and Fast & Furious.
