The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation after two men were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode on Thursday.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during a routine security operation and later handed over to the command for further investigation.
Authorities said efforts are currently underway to verify the identities of the two men and determine the reasons for their presence and activities in the area at the time of their arrest.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the command assured residents that there is no threat to public safety and that the situation remains under control.
Police spokespersons noted that the suspects would undergo a thorough and professional investigation in line with legal procedures, adding that any further action would depend on the outcome of ongoing inquiries.
