Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 21-year-old man in a park in Chelmsford, Essex.

Police were called to Central Park at around 7pm on Friday after reports of a seriously injured man. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where paramedics fought to save the victim’s life. Despite their efforts, the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police launched an immediate investigation, which quickly led officers to a property in Auckland Close, Chelmsford. Shortly afterwards, three suspects aged 14, 17 and 18 were arrested. All three remain in police custody while detectives continue their inquiries.

The victim’s family has been informed of the tragedy and is being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult time.

Detective Inspector Lydia George described the incident as “deeply distressing” and expressed sympathy for the victim’s loved ones.

“A family is grieving, and our thoughts remain firmly with them at this incredibly difficult time,” she said. “We ask both the public and the media to respect their privacy while we continue the early stages of our investigation. We are committed to finding answers for them and establishing exactly what happened.”

Police have confirmed they are not seeking any additional suspects and believe there is no ongoing threat to the wider public.

As the investigation continues, detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. DI George said that even seemingly minor details could prove important in helping officers piece together the events leading up to the young man’s death.
