Joe McCann is channeling his grief into a mission to help others following the heartbreaking loss of his fiancée, Ashlee Jenae.
McCann revealed that he has started the process of creating a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation in Ashlee’s memory. The organization will focus on preventing self-harm and providing support for individuals struggling with thoughts of self-harm.
According to McCann, the idea for the foundation emerged after the tragic death of Ashlee, whose real name was Ashly Robinson, during the couple’s vacation in Zanzibar in April. Her death was later officially ruled a suicide.
Reflecting on the findings, McCann said the announcement brought back a wave of pain but also strengthened his determination to create something meaningful from the tragedy.
He believes Ashlee’s story deserves to be shared, not because of how it ended, but because of the impact she had on the lives of those who knew and loved her. McCann said he is committed to ensuring her legacy lives on and that her passing serves as a catalyst for greater awareness and support for mental health struggles.
The investment firm CEO spoke openly about the regret he feels, wishing he had been able to ease the emotional suffering Ashlee experienced. He described her as his best friend, soulmate, and someone with a kind and gentle spirit who touched many lives.
McCann remains convinced that Ashlee’s influence will continue to inspire and help people for years to come. While the foundation is still in its early stages, he plans to share more information once an official announcement is made.
He has also released a full public statement online, offering a deeper reflection on Ashlee’s life, their relationship, and his hopes for the future of the foundation established in her honour.
