Tension gripped Oka Akoko in Ondo State after a group of suspected Fulani bandits, reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles, were apprehended by indigenous hunters in the community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects were rounded up during a coordinated operation by local hunters who had been monitoring their activities in the area. The arrest quickly attracted a large crowd, making it difficult for details of the incident to emerge immediately.
Residents said the suspects, who had been moving around on motorcycles, suddenly became unable to continue their movement after their capture. The situation drew widespread attention, with many community members gathering at the scene.
Sources within the community also claimed that the Oluode, a respected traditional hunter leader, performed traditional chants known as “ofo” during the incident, a practice believed by some locals to invoke spiritual authority and justice.
